Sweet Lord! I have found a new yoga practice and teacher and I am happy, happy, happy (and a little sore). By far one of the most important things in my life is to practice yoga. It's up there in priorities, just from being away from it for three months, I know in my core I must practice. And now my practice has a home.

Hats & Hearts

My plate is full. But I have banged out a couple hats recently and thought I'd show them off.

The Felicity, made for me until I realized I looked kinda dumb in a slouch. Luckily, Beatrice looks beautiful in that style.

Ah, that mug. Eating a Valentine's chocolate heart as bribery to model my Ol' Stand-By Hat. Pretty stinking cute, eh? Chocolate wasn't enough to get her back to model the other hat I made for her. (In purple, her favorite color.) Oh, well. Some other time.

And, feeling a bit crafty, I thought I'd tackle a Martha Stewart Valentine's Day Craft only to remember that I really don't like crafting all that much, and certainly not to make something that won't stand the test of time. Many crayons lost their lives to make these, I'm sad to say. I'm happy to say, I won't be making this again.

Beatrice at ballet. She goes by Bebe there, fyi. And her smile is huge the entire time she's dancing. It's so contagious!

We had a lunch-date after class because I have zero time alone with Bea. We ate grilled cheeses at Stone Soup in Ipswich and it was lovely.

It's 1995. I'm listening to Tori Amos's Little Eartquakes for the 5,000th time. I'm reading poetry in bed, writing obsessively in my journal, and crying intermitently. Oh, sorry mom, also smoking out my bedroom window.

Basically, in 2012, I'm doing the same thing, only now I'm listening to The Dead, and it's not so bleak.

Yesterday, I watched five kids all at once and it was nearly 60 degrees in late January. Both of these things amaze me.

This shot looks a lot more photoshopped than most of my work, and yes, I did photoshop it some, but not as much as you might think. I didn't touch the red of my lips, which I shellaced with two different lipsticks. Since it was a one-handed self-portrait and my neck is totally killing me, I had to settle for the focus being on my scarf, which is fine with me, since the whole point was to photograph my finished knitting project and not make a glamour shot. In the end, I got both.
